Anatomy of the Traverse Fatback RudderThe Fatback rudder system is Cajo's rudder, foot pedals, steering handle, and cable routing — built around the Power-Pole stern bolt pattern so it shares mounting real estate with trolling motors and anchor systems.Cajo rudder kit: Power-Pole bracket includedThe rudder kit ships with the Power-Pole mounting base — no separate bracket purchase is needed to mount the rudder to the stern Power-Pole bolt pattern.Rudder mount location and moving itThe rudder bolts to the center Power-Pole position on the stern, but every Cajo has two flanking Power-Pole mounts you can offset it to if you want a trolling motor in the center.Rudder pull-up cord too short: fixThe pull-up rope is double-wrapped around the rudder blade axle from the factory — unwrap it one turn and you'll add about 22 mm of usable rope without breaking the function.Rudder turns fine one way, hard the otherMost "works one way, hard the other" rudders just have the steering cord double-wrapped on the collar bolt — unwrap it to a single loop and re-thread; if that doesn't fix it, file a claim for a replacement handle.Traverse Rudder System assembly manualThe full Traverse Rudder System assembly manual — a 12-step build covering the base mount, Fatback blade, foot and handle steering, tension adjustment, and pulleys, with a printable PDF below.
