Anatomy of the Highlander AirTrek series

The Highlander 100, Highlander 120, and Highlander 140T inflatables all share the same component layout. The differences between models are dimensions (length, width, tandem-vs-solo seat zone count), not parts. This article names every part on the deck so you know what to attach what to.

Per-model dimensions

Working pressure: 10-12 psi operating, 10 psi storage max. Max load: 286 lbs (130 kg).

Named components — deck side

Bow zone (front of the boat)

• Fore Keel — the bottom-bow shaping that helps the boat track straight. Functional, not user-facing.
• Carry Handle (bow) — molded handle at the front for carrying or beach-launching. Rated for short-term carry, not storage suspension.
• D-Rings (×2-4) — reinforced attachment points on the deck for the cargo bungee system.
• Cargo Bungee — the elastic cord that runs across the bow deck through the D-rings. Holds dry bags, paddle, etc.
• Delta Bungee Clips (×4) — small hook-style clips that thread through the bungee for attaching gear.

Mid-deck zone (where you sit / pedal)

• AirTrek Window — removable screw-down cover on the AirTrek Pod. Comes off when you install a Traverse Pedal Drive; goes back on when you remove the drive.
• AirTrek Pod — the structural cutout where the Traverse Pedal Drive mounting collar bolts in. Reinforced separately from the air chamber so the drive load doesn't compromise inflation.
• EVA Deck Pad — high-traction foam pad covering the standing zone. Soft underfoot, grippy when wet.
• Rod Straps — built-in straps for stowing fishing rods horizontally while paddling.
• Paddle Straps — straps for stowing the 4-piece AirTrek Lite Paddle when you're pedaling.
• Gear Mount — accessory mounting plate(s) for installing extras like fish-finder bases, rod holders, or camera arms.

Seat zone

• Seat Strap D-Rings (×4 per seat) — reinforced D-rings where the Treklite Seat straps clip in. The Highlander User Manual specifies straps clip to the D-ring at least 6 inches from the seat for proper tension.
• Treklite Seat — Cajo's adjustable seat that ships standard with every Highlander. See the Treklite Kayak Seat manual.
• 140T second seat zone — the tandem 140T has a second complete seat zone aft of the first, with its own Seat Strap D-Rings, EVA Deck Pad section, and Gear Mount plates.

Stern zone (back of the boat)

• Rudder Line Fastener — hook-and-loop guides running along the deck that secure the rudder steering line as it runs from the foot pedals to the rudder collar.
• Power-Pole® Micro Anchor Mount (3 mounts) — three independent stern-mount points for Power-Pole Micro anchors, the Traverse Fatback Rudder, or trolling motors. The "x3 stern anchor pole, rudder, or motor mounts" Cajo feature lists.
• Traverse Rudder / Power-Pole® Micro Anchor Mount (center) — the center stern mount that's specifically reinforced for the Traverse Rudder System. The Rudder System Assembly Manual shows this as Installation Case 2 (Highlander mounting): position the rudder base so its front mounting holes align with the aft two rows of inserts in this mount.
• Air Valve — the primary Halkey-Roberts twist-lock inflation valve in the floor near the stern.
• Aft Keel — the bottom-stern shaping that mirrors the Fore Keel for tracking.
• Carry Handles (stern) — molded handles at the back for carrying and trailer loading.

Underside (hull bottom)

• Center Fin — large slide-in fin in the center fin box. Provides primary tracking.
• Left + Right Side Fins — smaller fins offset from the center, secured with push-in pins. The User Manual labels them L (left) and R (right).
• The hull underside is otherwise smooth drop-stitch, free of attachment points.

Reading the layout — the 140T vs the 100/120

The Highlander 100 and Highlander 120 share the same single-seat zone layout, just at different boat lengths. The Highlander 140T doubles the seat zone — same parts, but two complete seat zones front and rear with a second EVA Deck Pad, second set of Seat Strap D-rings, and second Gear Mount section between them.

What's not on the deck (but ships with the boat)

The Highlander User Manual lists these in the accessories overview — they're separate from the named hull components above:

• Zip Backpack with roller wheels (for transport / storage)
• Double-Action Pump (the included hand pump)
• Treklite Seat (standard issue, attaches via the 4 Seat Strap D-Rings)
• AirTrek Pod (lives in the AirTrek Window slot)
• Fin Set ×3 (slides into the underside fin boxes)
• Seat Tie-Down Straps ×4 (for the Treklite Seat)
• Delta Grip Bungee Clips ×4 (thread through the Cargo Bungee)
• Cargo Bungee Cord (the elastic deck-rigging)
• Repair Kit (for field punctures — see Highlander patch and repair)
• AirTrek Lite Paddle (4-piece convertible SUP/kayak paddle)
