Outpost 100: pre-wired for foot steering
The entire Outpost series is pre-plumbed for foot steering. The kit includes the foot-steering cables and our Slide Lock Kayak Foot Braces out of the box. Nothing extra to buy, no aftermarket cable kit to source.
What "pre-plumbed" actually means
Cajo runs the steering cable channels through the hull before the deck is bonded on. That means when your Outpost shows up, the cable paths from the foot pedals back to the rudder are already there — you're not drilling, snaking cable, or rigging anything custom.
Install the foot braces, attach the cables to the rudder cleats, set your tension, you're steering with your feet.
What's in the box
When you open an Outpost 100 (or 128) kit, you'll find:
- Foot-steering cables — pre-cut, ready to attach
- Slide Lock Kayak Foot Braces — the foot pedal assembly that drives the cables
- Traverse Fatback Rudder — the rudder blade, mount, and pull-up cord
- Steering Handle — for hand steering when you want it
- Hardware (M5 x 12mm 316 stainless bolts for the steering-cable side)
So you can run foot-only, hand-only, or both at the same time. The hand steering handle and the foot pedals act on the same rudder cables — whichever you grab last is in control.
