Flat pedal-drive cover plate
The flat bolt-in drive mount plug isn't available for purchase yet. The plug your Terra ships with is the molded version — it does the same sealing job, just shaped differently.
What customers are asking for
In some of our marketing photography, you can see a flat plate sitting in the drive cutout — clean, low-profile, ideal for fly fishing or any setup where you want a smooth deck without a pedal drive in place. That's the flat plug.
Owners who fly-fish from the Terra (or just don't want the molded plug taking up vertical space) want that flat plug. We've heard it loud and clear.
What ships today
Every Terra 116 currently ships with the molded drive plug — the version that's slightly raised above the deck and follows the drive cutout's surrounding contour. It seals the cutout the same way the flat plug does. Same waterproof rating, same install hardware.
Difference is the visual / functional profile:
- Molded plug (current) — slightly raised, follows the deck's surrounding shape
- Flat plug (not yet available) — fully flat with the deck, lowest profile, cleanest fly-fishing setup
Why we're waiting
We didn't want to ship the flat plug until the sealing design was bulletproof. The molded version has been in field use for a season; the flat version needed an extra round of testing for the gasket and bolt-down pattern because flatter = thinner = more flex under foot pressure.
That testing is still in progress.
What to do in the meantime
If you want the flat plug right now, the honest answer is: wait. There's no DIY workaround — fabricating a flat plate that seals as well as the production version isn't a weekend project.
